#82 Hangouts - Report Feedback on the Hangouts Extension

Hi ya!

If you’ve installed the Hangouts extension for Chrome,  and have a feature suggestion or found a bug with the extension, then you can report feedback.

How to report Feedback on the Hangouts Extension
  1. First, make sure you have the extension installed (link to extension is above).
  2. Then, make sure the extension is enabled and to check to see sure if it’s on the top right of the browser - where all the extensions are kept.
    Capture 30.png
  3. If you don’t see it on the browser control bar (that’s what I’m calling it), then type in the Omnibox chrome://extensions > Search for the Hangouts extension > and click the Show button box.
    Capture 31.png
  4. Now that you have it enabled and on the browser control bar, you launch the extension.
    Capture 32.png
  5. Click the drop-box on the right of New conversation.
  6. At the bottom of the Hangout chat settings, click Feedback.
    Capture 33.png
  7. A new tab pops up giving you the ability to type up your feedback and submit it.
Type what feedback you want to send the Google Hangouts team about their extension > click Send Feedback.
    Capture 34.png

And that is how you send feedback on the Hangouts extension!

#81 - I need your help!

Hi ya!

Just recently, I changed the way I wrote up my blog.
Before, I would write a blog post like this:

Editing your Blog Title
  • Go to your Blog Dashboard
  • Click on the More options drop-box > select Settings
    Screenshot 2015-05-16 at 2.33.48 PM.png
  • On the settings page, find Title > click Edit
    Screenshot 2015-05-16 at 2.34.56 PM.png
  • Change the name of your blog post > click Save changes

Taken from the blog post: Editing your Blog Title

Or, do you like you my blog laid out like this:

Managing Signatures in Inbox [Text version]
  1. Go to Inbox.
  2. Click the three horizontal line menu bar on the top left of the webpage.
  3. Scroll all the way down on the menu ‘til you see Settings.
  4. Click Settings > a popup appears. Click the category, Signature.
  5. From there, there is a button for you to click. It is the On & Off button. To explain what the button does, if it is On, then that means you have signatures enabled. If the button is Off, that means that signatures is disabled.
  6. Write your signature. Right now, you can’t add images, special font, etc. Just something simple. Your signature on Inbox and Gmail are different. The one on Gmail won’t carry over to Inbox.
  7. Once you’ve written your signature, click Done.

There is a Image version and Video version as soon as I can figure out how to screen capture the way I want to.

Taken from the blog post: Signatures

My question is which blog text layout do you like better? I really need thoughts, opinions, etc.

#79 Chromebook - Browsers you can install on Chrome OS

Hi ya!

Have you ever used the browser, Chrome? Do you like it? Not like it? Like it enough where it’s usable but not really your type of browser?
Well, if you’re on Windows (for example), and don’t like Chrome much, you can always install another browser like Firefox, Opera, etc.

But what if you’re on a Chromebook? Can you install Firefox? Opera?

The simple answer is yes.

The complicated answer is it’s complicated.

If you have vanilla Chrome OS, then you can’t install any type of browser other than what’s already been installed - Chrome.

If you have Linux installed on Chrome OS, then you can install any browser that is supported by Linux.

#78 Chrome - Support Options

Hi ya!

If you’re using the Chrome browser, at some point Chrome is going to break.
When Chrome breaks, you’ll have to fix it.
But how will you fix Chrome? Can you contact someone from Google to help you? A Chrome Specialist?

Google does not offer you, the user of Chrome, any way to contact them for support on their free product, Chrome.
That means you can’t call Google asking them why Chrome won’t load a webpage.
That means you can’t email Google asking them why Chrome won’t update.
That means you can’t have a live conversation (live chat) with Google asking them why you can’t launch Chrome.

So, what do you do?

You can search around on the internet.
Look up your issue and see if you can find anything out on the web to solve your problem.
If nothing good comes from that search, check out Google’s Help Center > Chrome.
About 70% of the time, your issue can be solved by checking out the Help Center that was so kindly provided by Google.
Then, if you couldn’t solve your question from checking out the Help Center, what you do is post your question at Google Product Forum (GPF).
You can post your question on the Chrome forum.

GPF is moderated by Googlers.
And volunteers who are passionate about Google products (in this case, Chrome), post in GPF assisting users with their questions.

And that is your support options for Chrome!

#77 Gmail - Standard view/Basic view

Hi ya!

When accessing your Gmail account, you have the option to view your Gmail messages two different ways: Standard view and Basic view (HTML view).
We’re going to be going over the two.

Standard view
Standard view is for supported browsers and for strong internet connections.
With Standard view, you’ll have access to all of Gmail’s features.

Basic view (HTML view)
Basic view is for unsupported browsers and slow(er) internet connections.
With Basic view, you don’t get all of Gmail's features.
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Spell checker
  • Chat
  • Adding / importing contacts
  • Custom from addresses
  • Rich formatting
Sometimes, if you having Gmail issues, one good troubleshooting suggestion is to try to load Gmail in Basic view.
