#68 Google Product Forums (GPF) - Editing a Post

Hi ya!

When you have a question regarding a certain Google Product (such as Chrome, Gmail, Adsense, Blogger, etc.), you can visit Google Product Forums (GPF) and an Expert (Rising Star / Top Contributor) will help you solve your issue/question.
Well, to help you solve your question, they need for you to provide a lot of detail about the issue (to learn how to correctly post at GPF, see this blog post).
The more detail, the better!
However, sometimes too much detail isn’t good.
What I’m talking about is when you provide your phone number, email address (don’t provide your email address unless asked by an Expert), credit card information, a screenshot of something you don’t want anyone seeing, etc.
Basically, anything personal/sensitive.

If you do provide sensitive information, then what you can do (and should do) is edit it.
And after you read this blog post, you’ll learn how to edit a post written by you!

Editing a Post
Before we begin, please note that in some of Google’s forums, you actually have to be a certain level before you can edit a post.
Being able to edit a post in a forum is set up differently for some of the forums in GPF.
So, when you’re able to edit one of your posts, what you do is this:
  • Find the post of yours that you wish to edit
  • On the right side (next to the Reply button), there is a drop-box

  • Click the drop-box
  • Click Edit

  • Edit out what needs to be edited
  • Click Save
And the post has been edited! It was that easy!

Summary:
In some forums at GPF, you have to reach a certain level before you have the option to edit a post.
  • Find the post of yours that you wish to edit
  • On the right side (next to the Reply button), there is a drop-box
  • Click the drop-box
  • Click Edit
  • Edit out what needs to be edited
  • Click Save
