Hi ya!

Google Product Forums (GPF) has been updated!

All the Google Product forums are on  the front page.
From the Chrome forum, to the Gmail forum.
If you have a Blogger question, the Blogger forum is on the front page as well!

With this blog post, I’m going to be showing you some features of the new GPF.

“How do I ask a question?”
To ask a question at the new GPF, follow the steps below.
  • Choose the product that you have a question about (like Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive, etc.)
  • At the top of the forum, there’s a button called “New Question
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 2.43.43 PM.png
  • A page opens up. Looks like this (without all the text inside the image)
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.png
The text inside of the image describes what the ‘compose post’ box is.
  • Once you’ve written out your post - adding detail, attaching files, images, etc. - and choose your category, you’re ready to submit the post! Click Post! Your topic has been submitted!

  • If you wish, you can edit your post by clicking the pencil icon right next to the title of the post.

Keyboard Shortcuts
If you’re like me - pretty good with the keyboard - then you may like to use keyboard shortcuts.

At the moment, there is no way to access the keyboard shortcut menu in the new GPF (if you wish to see the keyboard shortcut menu in the new GPF, you can send feedback via:
  • Gear icon
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.29.03 PM.png
  • Select Help and Feedback
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.30.20 PM.png
  • A little popup appears offering help articles for you to look at. If none of the links help (or if your search doesn’t help), or if you just want to send feedback, select Send Feedback

). Whereas, with the old GPF, all you had to do was use the keys shift + /

Please note: some of the keyboard shortcuts are still the same; you can still use ctrl + a  to reply to a topic.
Just the shortcuts menu is gone.

Membership Settings
If you want to edit your membership with the group, then here’s what you do!
  • Click the gear icon > membership and email settings
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.38.09 PM.png
    This is the new GPF.
  • With the old GPF, what you did was click on the person icon > membership settings are all there

“What is the ‘Main Menu’?”
With the new GPF, there is a menu bar - just like in the browser Chrome and Firefox.
Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.43.41 PM.png
Basically, the Main Menu has all the same gadgets as the old GPF did.
  1. My Groups
  2. My discussions
  3. Recently viewed
  4. Save searches

Searching GPF
Searching in the new GPF is the same as the old GPF.
You can use the search box (Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.56.09 PM.png) and type in a specific request (learn to search GPF via this help article) or you can browse the certain forum that you want to browse.
Still the same.
You can also use Filters.
  • At the top of the home page in the new GPF > click Action > Filters
    Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 3.59.43 PM.png
Learn more about Filters.

Viewing the members
With the old GPF, all you had to do to view the most active members was click About.
Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 4.05.05 PM.png
With the new GPF, you click on the people icon to the most active members of the selected forum.
Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 4.06.54 PM.png

“How do I leave the new GPF?”
You can temporarily leave the new GPF by going into settings (gear icon Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 4.10.19 PM.png) > click Switch to the older version.
Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 4.10.54 PM.png

Once you’re back on the older version of GPF, if you want to switch back to the new GPF, all you have to do is go back to settings (gear icon) > Switch to the new version
Screenshot 2015-05-15 at 4.12.40 PM.png
Please be aware that having the option to switch back and forth, version to version, old GPF to new GPF will be removed in about two months from the time of this writing.
So, you might want to get used to the new GPF.

Okay! I believe I got you off to a good start to using the new GPF!
Hope it helps!
